In the battle between old-school journalism and the bustling world of citizen journalism, we have to ask one very important question:
What is it that makes good journalism GOOD anyway?
Accuracy - Is the story being put out being verified through multiple credible sources before going public, or is Aunt Inga your primary source? (No offense to Aunt Inga, of course).
Objectivity – Is the reporting devoid of personal bias in how the story is shaped, including omitting some information and including other information to paint a narrative rather than an accurate picture. Think about it in terms of a painting vs a photograph. The painting can be beautiful, but which do you trust more?
Transparency – Are sources being disclosed? Are potential conflicts of interest being disclosed? Or is there some shadowy cabal lurking in the background?
