There’s something really disturbing happening, something that I’m inclined to call “information obesity.” This malady leaves us bloated with random facts, but malnourished when it comes to wisdom.

We have a whole generation that’s learning from TikTok and other social media platforms. We have people self-educating using soundbites and diving into rabbit holes, instead of gaining a depth of understand on any given topic. Yet they believe themselves to be self-made experts.

We have have more access to information and data than ever before, but few people who know how to properly research and learn—instead opting to pick and choose whatever narratives suite them. We have people who are woefully ignorant of history. Who don’t read books. Who skim. Who don’t know how to use critical thinking.

When a popular influencer with no substance and knowledge is listened to more than an educated person, there’s something off about society. You’d wonder why anyone would care to listen to a 23-year-old …
