Masks are hardly the main concern these days given everything else going on, but, as an escape from everything else…I’m going to talk about masks.

The use of masks or face covering is nothing new. Throughout history they’ve been used for religious reasons, entertainment, rituals such as ceremonies, as disguises, and for protection. Apparently, the oldest mask that’s been found is from 7000 BC.

Of course, by now most of us have had to use a mask of some sort in the endless battle against Covid-19. They come in many flavors: cloth, surgical, disposable, N95, etc. And while some may view face-covering as oppressive when used by women for ‘modesty’ in certain religions, now we are all equally oppressed — men and women alike. Yes, masks have been the great equalizer. Now no one looks attractive, no matter how many rhinestones you bejewel it with. Goodbye, vanity. Hello, personality?

There are some who claim that masks are just a minor inconvenience (gag reflex be damned!), and they are happy…
