When I first started getting migraines, I was just a kid. Over the years, they’ve gotten more severe and frequent. Anytime I mention them, people are quick to offer their idea of a remedy. They mean well, but…well, let me just say that I’m grateful for pharmaceuticals. That is, on the occasions that they work. (And, well, chronic sufferers have tried just about everything at this point in their lives, so it’s a bit more complex than just drinking more water or exercising).
But this isn’t the point of this post.
When the pain won’t stop, or when it continues for weeks—life can feel like it’s getting in the way. I will admit to having felt that way more than a few times; wanting to drill the pain away. A few particularly painful attacks have left me wanting to end things. I can’t imagine living longer than a few hours with that level of pain.
