As I observe the chaotic madness that has engulfed the discourse surrounding Elon Musk, I can’t help but wonder what it is that has caused people to turn on him so quickly and so boldly since his acquisition of Twitter.
Once upon a time, not too long ago actually, Musk was a rather admired figure—often compared to Tony Stark (aka Iron Man). He was known for building up Tesla to where it is now, Space X, Neuralink, and PayPal. Not that he was perfect—there are lawsuits against him, and complaints about his management style. There are valid criticisms to be made of Musk, but also things to admire.
But much of the conversation surrounding him has devolved largely towards two sides: Either he’s the savior who’s come to rescue free speech (and unlock conservatives from their shackles of leftist oppression in the process), or else he’s an oppressive figure who’s turned into a rabid right-winger who promotes racism, transphobia, is driven by his narcissism alone, embraces apartheid (despite m…
