The "It's a private company" argument fails to acknowledge how the government (not just private business owners or customers) are dictating what is "acceptable" or "unacceptable" to say or think online. I'm not against all government activity, but censoring speech should not be one of its jobs.

The Solution...... Don't do business with AirBNB if you disagree.

Same with the Christian Baker not wanting to bake a cake for your gay wedding. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

After reading this it seems that there is also a case for landlords that do not want to rent to certain groups of people based on whatever fits their beliefs. Isn't that discrimination and aren't we trying to be better than that? This seems so wrong in so many ways, very disappointed as this looks like a giant step backward based on politics which is a joke.

i think there are laws that cover that. airbnb is weird cuz it's people using airbnb as a third-party service

Combine this with other examples. Trudeau locking down Trucker Convoy bank accounts. Twitter competitors (Parler) are being locked out of Mastercard/Apple payment services. The rise of digital currency. Big Tech/Big Gov/Big Corp working together to control narratives. It's all very concerning. It's an alarm bell. Things like this make you want to take all your money out of banks and do all your business with cash.

someone was obv putting lauren and her fam in a list within airbnb. her legal surname isn't 'southern' so they had her family noted and listed under their real names. do you think this was the only family like this?

I didn't know that. This makes it even more sinister. I suspect this is far from being the only case.
