In a world where social media has become an integral part of our lives, encountering someone in a social setting or online is no longer just about face-to-face interaction.
There are several areas or subjects where I found myself very one sided, and if I see other person belong or accept other side, I will not engage into “let me know you better” game. I will respect his or her opinion or choice, but I will make my assumptions about them based just on that. Example: “Trump”, “Putin”, War in Ukraine, and few others. These are our modern days “compasses”, that can show you right away the “core” of the person in front of you.
This is a great reminder of how our minds are lazy and that our initial reactions to people are based on assumption, not fact. Our need for simplistic short cuts to affirm our biases reduces complex humans into categories of trust/don’t trust, stopping us from connecting, curiosity and compassion. Great insightful piece!
This is a really humane, important message which probably ought to be shared frequently. In fact, I’ll add it a link to it on my blog’s upcoming end-of-the-month gallimaufry and may even add a few words of my experience with this behavior (both doing it and being on the end of it).

Thank you so much for sharing the message.
I totally agree!
